Overview
At 2:17 a.m., seventeen children from the same elementary school class get out of bed, walk out of their houses, and disappear into the night — all but one. In the small town of Maybrook, the mystery shatters a community: teacher Justine Gandy faces suspicion from grieving parents, a father named Archer searches desperately for answers, and a troubled police officer’s own investigation spirals into something far stranger. Told from shifting perspectives that slowly reveal how each character’s story connects, Weapons builds its horror from dread and unanswered questions rather than jump scares alone. Writer-director Zach Cregger follows his breakout Barbarian with a folk-horror mystery about grief, blame, and the terrifying things that hide behind closed doors. It is one of the most talked-about horror films of 2025, and its final act delivers a payoff that reframes everything that came before.
Why Watch Weapons?
Weapons is the rare horror film that is as smart as it is scary. Its puzzle-box structure keeps you guessing, its ensemble — led by Julia Garner and Josh Brolin — grounds the nightmare in real emotion, and its ending is genuinely shocking. If you like horror that respects your intelligence and still gets under your skin, this is essential viewing.
