Overview

Yeon Si-eun looks like the last person anyone should fear. He is small, quiet and always first in his class, the kind of student teachers praise and bullies assume will be easy prey. What they do not see is a mind that studies a fight the way it studies an exam: noticing habits, angles and weaknesses, then turning the smallest advantage into a decisive one. When the violence around him stops being something he can ignore, Si-eun stops running from it, and his refusal to back down pulls him into a world of school gangs, shifting loyalties and grudges that cut deeper than any punch.

Across its two seasons, Weak Hero grows from a tense schoolyard survival story into a wider drama about what friendship costs. The first season builds Si-eun’s uneasy alliance with the fearless Ahn Su-ho and the troubled Oh Beom-seok, three boys who should never have become friends and yet become inseparable. The second season moves Si-eun to a new school after loss, where he must decide whether to repeat the past or finally break its pattern. The action is sharp and grounded, but the show’s real power lies in its characters: no one here is simply a hero or a villain, and every victory leaves a mark.

Creator and Main Cast

Weak Hero was created by Yoo Soo-min and Han Jun-hee. Park Ji-hoon stars as Yeon Si-eun, the brilliant student who fights with strategy over strength, alongside Choi Hyun-wook as Ahn Su-ho, Hong Kyung as Oh Beom-seok, Cha Woo-min as Kang Woo-young, Ryeoun as Park Hu-min and Lee Yeon as Yeong-i.

Why Watch Weak Hero

Most school action dramas sell brute force; Weak Hero sells intelligence. Watching Si-eun dismantle a much bigger opponent with a textbook, a pen or pure timing is genuinely thrilling, because every fight feels earned rather than staged. But the fights are only half the draw. The friendship at the show’s heart is messy, funny and heartbreaking in equal measure, and the second season raises the emotional stakes without losing the first season’s bite. At just eight episodes per season, it is a tight, addictive binge that rewards viewers who like their action with consequences.
