Overview

Tokyo Ghoul is a dark fantasy about a young man caught between two worlds, neither of which will fully accept him. Ken Kaneki is an ordinary college student until a fateful encounter with Rize leaves him transformed into a half-ghoul — a being who looks human but must feed on human flesh to survive. Suddenly hunted by the investigators of the CCG and feared by the ghouls he now resembles, Kaneki takes refuge at Anteiku, a quiet coffee shop that hides a community of ghouls trying to live in peace. What follows is a brutal, emotional descent into identity, hunger, and survival, as Kaneki is torn between the human life he lost and the monster he is becoming. Stylish, violent, and surprisingly tender, Tokyo Ghoul asks what makes someone human when their body says otherwise — and it never flinches from the answer.
