Overview

Princess Yona has lived a sheltered life in the palace of Kouka, dreaming of marrying her cousin Su-Won. On her sixteenth birthday, that dream shatters: Su-Won murders her father and seizes the throne, and Yona flees into the night with only her loyal bodyguard Hak at her side. Stripped of everything, the spoiled princess must learn to survive — and to fight. Guided by an oracle, Yona sets out to find the legendary Four Dragons, warriors with the blood of ancient gods, who alone can help her reclaim her kingdom. Yona of the Dawn is a sweeping fantasy adventure and one of the great coming-of-age stories in anime: over 24 episodes, Yona grows from a helpless royal into a determined archer and leader, while Hak’s quiet devotion and Su-Won’s complicated motives give the story its emotional weight. Rich in politics, romance and humor, it is a journey worth taking — even if fans are still waiting for a second season.
