Ozark

2017 • TMDB 8.2 • 4 seasons • 44 episodes • Crime, Drama • Netflix

Overview

Marty Byrde is a mild-mannered financial adviser with a very large problem: to stay alive, he must launder $500 million for a Mexican drug cartel. So he drags his wife Wendy and their two children from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where a quiet lake town hides a whole ecosystem of crime — hillbilly heroin dealers, a riverboat casino scheme and an FBI agent who never stops watching. Ozark is tense, bleak and brilliantly acted, a show where every solution creates two worse problems. Jason Bateman and Laura Linney are superb as a couple whose marriage becomes as dangerous as their business, and Julia Garner steals scene after scene as Ruth Langmore, the sharp-tongued local who becomes the show’s beating heart. No one gets out clean — the tagline is a promise.
