    Overview

Allison DuBois never asked to hear the dead, but in Medium her unsettling gift becomes a working tool. A Phoenix wife and mother who dreams in fragments of other people’s lives, Allison takes a job with the District Attorney’s office, where her visions, hunches and half-remembered nightmares point investigators toward missing people, hidden motives and crimes that refuse to make sense on paper. The show’s brilliance is in how ordinary it makes the extraordinary: Allison worries about school runs, bills and her marriage while trying to explain a dream she cannot quite prove. Patricia Arquette plays her with warmth, stubbornness and a dry sense of humor, grounding every supernatural twist in family life. Around her, a skeptical but loyal husband, a pragmatic boss and a sharp detective learn when to trust what she feels. Case by case, Medium blends procedural mystery with domestic drama and a quietly eerie atmosphere, asking whether the truth is something you can find, feel or simply dream.

    Aibou: Tokyo Detective Duo poster

    Overview

Aibou: Tokyo Detective Duo — known in Japan simply as Aibou, or Partners — is one of Japanese television’s great long-running detective dramas. At its center is Ukyo Sugishita, a brilliant but unconventional detective exiled to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Special Task Unit, a tiny office where he works cases according to his own convictions rather than the chain of command. Each season pairs him with a new partner — the hot-tempered Kaoru Kameyama, the cool Takeru Kambe, the young Toru Kai, and later Wataru Kaburagi — and the chemistry between Sugishita’s quiet logic and his partner’s very different style drives the show. Cases range from locked-room murders to political conspiracies, but the series is really about principle: Sugishita’s refusal to bend, even when the institution around him would prefer he did. Since 2002, that stubborn integrity has kept Aibou essential viewing in Japan.

    Creator and Main Cast

A long-running TV Asahi detective drama. Main cast includes Yutaka Mizutani as Ukyo Sugishita, Mitsuhiro Oikawa as Takeru Kambe, Takashi Yamanaka as Keiji Serizawa, Kazuhisa Kawahara as Kenichi Itami, Atsushi Yamanishi as Rokuro Kakuta and Ryuji Katagiri as Kanji Uchimura.

    Seasons Snapshot

    • Early seasons (2002–2009) — Sugishita and Kaoru Kameyama establish the Special Task Unit and the show’s case-of-the-week rhythm.
    • Middle seasons (2009–2015) — New partners Takeru Kambe and Toru Kai bring fresh dynamics as the cases grow more political.
    • Recent seasons (2015–2026) — Wataru Kaburagi joins Sugishita, carrying the series into Season 25, which premiered on October 21, 2026.

Why Watch Aibou: Tokyo Detective Duo

Aibou rewards patient viewers: its mysteries are carefully constructed, its hero is genuinely distinctive, and the rotating-partner format keeps the show from ever going stale. If you enjoy detective stories where character matters as much as the puzzle, this is a deep, satisfying catalog to explore.

    Person of Interest poster

    Overview

In a New York still shaped by 9/11, a secret surveillance system built to stop the next terrorist attack quietly flags something else: ordinary people about to be caught up in violent crimes the government considers irrelevant. That is the premise of Person of Interest, Jonathan Nolan’s CBS series, which starts as a vigilante procedural and grows into one of television’s most ambitious stories about artificial intelligence. Reclusive billionaire Harold Finch built the Machine; presumed-dead ex-CIA operative John Reese does the fieldwork, racing to save one number at a time with the help of detectives Joss Carter and Lionel Fusco. As the seasons progress, the show’s scope widens dramatically: a shadowy organization called Samaritan builds a rival AI, the Machine begins to develop a voice and a will of its own, and the weekly rescues give way to a war for the future of humanity. It is a rare series that asks hard questions about surveillance and free will while never losing its grip on action, humor and heart.

    Creator and Main Cast

Person of Interest was created by Jonathan Nolan. The main cast includes:

    • Jim Caviezel as John Reese (103 episodes)
    • Michael Emerson as Harold Finch (103 episodes)
    • Kevin Chapman as Lionel Fusco (103 episodes)
    • Taraji P. Henson as Joss Carter (90 episodes)
    • Amy Acker as Root (81 episodes)
    • Sarah Shahi as Sameen Shaw (62 episodes)
    • John Nolan as John Greer (29 episodes)
    • Enrico Colantoni as Carl Elias (24 episodes)

    Seasons Snapshot

    • Season 1 (2011) — 23 episodes: Reese and Finch begin saving the Machine’s “irrelevant” numbers.
    • Season 2 (2012) — 22 episodes: The Machine’s secrets and the fight for its control deepen.
    • Season 3 (2013) — 23 episodes: The team faces the shadowy organization Decima and the rise of Samaritan.
    • Season 4 (2014) — 22 episodes: Samaritan goes live, forcing the team underground.
    • Season 5 (2016) — 13 episodes: The final war between the Machine and Samaritan, ending with “return 0.”

    Why Watch Person of Interest?

    • A procedural that evolves into a sweeping AI saga — the rare show that gets bigger and smarter every season.
    • Michael Emerson and Jim Caviezel’s quietly magnetic partnership anchors the series.
    • Taraji P. Henson, Amy Acker and Sarah Shahi give the team depth and edge.
    • It asked serious questions about mass surveillance years before they dominated the headlines.
    • 103 episodes of tightly plotted, bingeable television with a real, satisfying ending.

    Trailer

No official English-language series trailer for Person of Interest is available on YouTube from CBS or Warner Bros. — the only official CBS upload found is a 46-second pilot preview clip, and the trailer listed on TMDB comes from a fan channel — so no trailer is embedded here.

    9-1-1 poster

    Overview

When the phone rings, Los Angeles answers — and 9-1-1 follows the people on the other end of the line. Firefighters, paramedics, police officers and the dispatchers who guide them face the city’s wildest emergencies: earthquakes, fires, crashes, rescues and disasters that are somehow bigger every season. Each call is a self-contained thrill, but the show’s real engine is its characters. Bobby Nash leads the 118 firehouse with a steady hand and a complicated past, Athena Grant polices the same streets with authority and heart, and Buck, Hen, Chimney, Eddie and Maddie carry stories about family, trauma, love and second chances between the sirens.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, 9-1-1 has run since 2018 and moved from FOX to ABC, growing into one of TV’s most reliable crowd-pleasers. Its formula is proudly over the top — the emergencies are spectacular, the cliffhangers are shameless and the emotion is sincere. That combination is why it works: viewers come for the disaster set pieces and stay for a found family they have watched through marriages, losses and impossible rescues. Whether you watch weekly or binge a season at a time, 9-1-1 delivers high-stakes drama with a warm, human center.

    Creator and Main Cast

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear. Main cast includes Angela Bassett as Athena Grant, Oliver Stark as Evan ‘Buck’ Buckley, Aisha Hinds as Henrietta ‘Hen’ Wilson, Kenneth Choi as Howard ‘Chimney’ Han, Ryan Guzman as Eddie Diaz, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Buckley, and Peter Krause as Bobby Nash.

    Seasons Snapshot

    • Early seasons (2018–2021) — The 118 is introduced through spectacular emergencies and the team’s tangled personal lives.
    • Middle seasons (2021–2024) — Larger disasters, new romances and major turning points test the firehouse family.
    • Recent seasons (2024–2026) — Season 10 continues on ABC with fresh crises and the 118 facing their toughest calls yet.

    Why Watch 9-1-1

Because few shows balance spectacle and heart this well: every episode brings a jaw-dropping rescue and a character moment that lands. If you love procedural drama with big emotions, a great ensemble and cliffhangers you will talk about the next day, this is essential viewing.

    EastEnders poster

    Overview

EastEnders follows the everyday lives of working-class residents of Albert Square, a traditional Victorian square in London’s East End borough of Walford. Since 1985, the BBC soap has built its drama around families who live, work and argue within a few streets of each other — in the market, the launderette, the café and, above all, the Queen Vic pub.

The show is famous for its big, unmissable episodes: weddings that go wrong, secrets revealed at Christmas, and returns that nobody saw coming. Ian Beale, Sharon Watts, Phil Mitchell and the wider Mitchell and Beale families have carried storylines across four decades, giving EastEnders a sense of history few soaps can match. It is gritty, emotional and often surprisingly funny, all in the same half hour.

    Creator and Main Cast

Created by Julia Smith and Tony Holland. Main cast includes Adam Woodyatt as Ian Beale, June Brown as Dot Cotton, Letitia Dean as Sharon Watts, Pam St. Clement as Pat Butcher, Steve McFadden as Phil Mitchell, Perry Fenwick as Billy Mitchell, and Barbara Windsor as Peggy Mitchell.

    Seasons Snapshot

    • Early series (1985–1999) — Albert Square’s founding families and the show’s first era-defining storylines.
    • Middle series (2000–2019) — The Mitchells dominate as EastEnders becomes a national talking point.
    • Recent series (2020–2026) — Series 42 continues the drama on BBC One.

    Why Watch EastEnders

Because it remains the benchmark for British soap drama: strong ensemble acting, storylines that genuinely shock, and a community you can follow for years. If you like character-driven drama with real stakes, Walford is worth moving into.

    Criminal Minds poster

    Overview

The FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit does not chase criminals after the fact — it gets inside their heads before they strike again. Criminal Minds follows the profilers of the BAU as they travel the country, reading crime scenes the way other detectives read fingerprints, and building a portrait of an unknown subject from behavior, victimology, and the smallest details left behind. Led over the years by Aaron Hotchner, David Rossi, and Emily Prentiss, and anchored by genius Spencer Reid, tech wizard Penelope Garcia, and profiler Jennifer Jareau, the team faces serial killers, kidnappers, and predators whose motives are as twisted as their methods. Each case is a race against the clock, but the show’s real engine is the team itself: a found family that absorbs the darkness of its work and leans on each other to keep going. After fifteen seasons on CBS, the series reinvented itself on Paramount+ as Criminal Minds: Evolution, trading case-of-the-week comfort for serialized hunts — and proving this team still has new nightmares to profile.

    Creator and Main Cast

    Created by Jeff Davis.

    • Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia (364 episodes)
    • A.J. Cook as Jennifer Jareau (344 episodes)
    • Matthew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid (325 episodes)
    • Joe Mantegna as David Rossi (319 episodes)

    • Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss (251 episodes)
    • Aisha Tyler as Dr. Tara Lewis (127 episodes)
    • Adam Rodriguez as Luke Alvez (109 episodes)

    Seasons Snapshot

    • Seasons 1–5 (2005–2010) — 20–26 episodes each; the original BAU lineup takes shape.
    • Seasons 6–10 (2010–2015) — 23–24 episodes each; new profilers join as the team evolves.
    • Seasons 11–15 (2015–2020) — 10–22 episodes each; the CBS run closes with a 10-episode final season.
    • Seasons 16–19 (2022–2026) — 10 episodes each; the Paramount+ Evolution revival, with serialized storytelling.

    Why Watch Criminal Minds?

    • The profiling angle sets it apart: the puzzle is the killer’s mind, not just the crime scene.
    • Two decades of cases mean you can dip into almost any season and find a gripping standalone story.
    • The BAU’s found-family bond gives the darkest cases real emotional stakes.
    • The Evolution revival adds serialized, season-long hunts for viewers who want more than one-off cases.
    • Its opening literary quotes and jet-set case structure made it one of TV’s most rewatchable procedurals.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit poster

    Overview

In New York City, some crimes cut deeper than others, and that is where the Special Victims Unit steps in. Led for more than two decades by Captain Olivia Benson, the detectives of Manhattan’s 16th Precinct investigate sexual assaults, child abuse, and domestic violence — cases that demand both sharp police work and uncommon compassion. Each episode follows a new investigation from the first call through interrogation rooms, courtroom confrontations, and the fragile aftermath for survivors. Over 28 seasons, the show has followed Benson’s own journey from detective to captain, alongside partners who became family: Elliot Stabler, Fin Tutuola, John Munch, Amanda Rollins, and Sonny Carisi. The cases are ripped from the headlines in spirit, but the show’s power lies in how it treats victims as people rather than plot points, and in detectives who carry the weight of every case home with them. It is television’s longest-running live-action primetime drama for a reason: it never looks away.

    Creator and Main Cast

    Created by Dick Wolf.

    • Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson (602 episodes)
    • Ice-T as Odafin ‘Fin’ Tutuola (580 episodes)

    • Seasons 2–10 (2000–2009) — 19–25 episodes each; the classic era of the squad room.
    • Seasons 11–20 (2009–2019) — the squad evolves as Benson rises to sergeant, then lieutenant.
    • Seasons 21–27 (2019–2025) — Benson as captain, with Stabler’s return in crossovers.
    • Season 28 (2026) — 8 episodes so far, premiered October 8, 2026.

Why Watch Law & Order: Special Victims Unit?

    • Olivia Benson’s 27-year arc from detective to captain is one of television’s great long-form character journeys.
    • Almost every episode stands alone, so you can start anywhere — or follow the whole run.
    • The show centers survivors’ stories with a seriousness few procedurals match.
    • Crossovers with the wider Law & Order universe reward longtime fans without confusing newcomers.
    • At 602 episodes and counting, it is the definition of a comfort procedural with real dramatic weight.

    Tomorrow Is Ours poster

    Overview

Set in the Mediterranean town of Sète, Tomorrow Is Ours (Demain nous appartient) follows the intertwined lives of its families, where everyday rivalries and romances sit alongside police investigations, secrets and betrayals. The show’s long-running cast makes its world feel lived-in: viewers watch children grow up, couples form and break, and old wounds resurface just when peace seems possible.

What sets it apart from a standard soap is its crime backbone. A missing person, a suspicious death or a family secret can run for weeks, giving each daily episode a cliffhanger that pulls the next one forward. With more than 2,000 episodes, it is a show you can dip into for a storyline or follow daily for years — the town of Sète rewards both kinds of viewer.

    Creator and Main Cast

Created by Eline Le Fur, Laure de Colbert, Nicolas Durand-Zouky, Fabienne Lesieur and Frédéric Chansel. Main cast includes Ingrid Chauvin as Chloé Delcourt, Alexandre Brasseur as Alex Bertrand, Lorie Pester as Lucie Salducci, Samy Gharbi as Karim Saeed, Solène Hébert as Victoire Lazzari, and Clément Remiens as Maxime Delcourt.

    NCIS: Origins poster

    Overview

Long before he became the steely team leader fans know, Leroy Jethro Gibbs was a rookie trying to prove himself. NCIS: Origins rewinds to 1991, when a young Gibbs joins the fledgling NCIS office at Camp Pendleton and lands on a scrappy, rule-bending team led by the legendary Mike Franks. Still carrying the fresh wounds of personal tragedy, Gibbs throws himself into cases involving Navy personnel and their families, learning the instincts — and the gut rules — that would define his career. Narrated by an older Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, the series blends weekly investigations with a slow-burning character study of a man becoming a legend. It is a prequel that stands on its own: part 1990s period piece, part workplace drama, and a welcome return to the grounded, character-first storytelling that made NCIS a phenomenon.

    Creator and Main Cast

NCIS: Origins was created by Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North.

    • Austin Stowell as Leroy Jethro Gibbs
    • Kyle Schmid as Mike Franks
    • Mariel Molino as Lala Dominguez
    • Tyla Abercrumbie as Mary Jo Hayes
    • Diany Rodriguez as Vera Strickland
    • Caleb Foote as Bernard ‘Randy’ Randolf
    • Mark Harmon as Older Leroy Jethro Gibbs (voice)

    Seasons Snapshot

    • Season 1 (2024) — 18 episodes: Young Gibbs joins the Camp Pendleton team and begins forging his place under Mike Franks.
    • Season 2 (2025) — 18 episodes: The team faces bigger cases and deeper personal stakes as Gibbs settles into the job.
    • Season 3 (2026) — 10 episodes: Mark Harmon returns as Gibbs faces a new chapter, premiering October 6, 2026.

    Why Watch NCIS: Origins?

NCIS: Origins works whether you have seen every episode of NCIS or none of them. Austin Stowell captures Gibbs’ quiet intensity without doing an impression, and Kyle Schmid’s Franks is a perfect mentor — gruff, funny, and haunted in his own way. The 1991 setting gives the show a distinct flavor, from the pre-digital investigations to the old-school office dynamics, while the narration from Mark Harmon ties the past to the present with real emotional weight. If you like procedural cases with heart, and character arcs that build season over season, this prequel earns its place in the NCIS universe.

    Marshals poster

    Overview

Leaving the Yellowstone Ranch behind changes everything for Kayce Dutton — but it does not make his life simpler. Trading ranch work for a badge, he joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals policing Montana’s wide-open spaces, where the job blends cowboy instinct with the discipline of his Navy SEAL past. Each case drags him deeper into the region’s war on violence, and the badge brings a new kind of cost: long absences from his family, the pull of a Dutton legacy he cannot quite escape, and the moral weight of being the last line of defense in a place where the law often arrives late or not at all. Around him, a unit of fellow marshals — Pete Calvin, Belle Skinner, Andrea Cruz and Miles Kittle — carries its own scars and loyalties. Marshals keeps the Yellowstone world’s scale and grit while shifting the focus to procedure, pursuit and the price of justice, making it a natural next chapter for fans of the Dutton saga and a strong standalone western crime drama.

    Creator and Main Cast

Marshals was created by Spencer Hudnut. The main cast includes Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, Logan Marshall-Green as Pete Calvin, Arielle Kebbel as Belle Skinner, Ash Santos as Andrea Cruz, Tatanka Means as Miles Kittle, Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton, Mo Brings Plenty as Mo and Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater.

    Seasons Snapshot

    • Season 1 (2026) — 13 episodes, as Kayce joins the Marshals and takes on Montana’s most dangerous cases.
    • Season 2 (2026) — 6 episodes, premiered October 4, 2026.

    Why Watch Marshals?

Because it gives Yellowstone’s most compelling character a story of his own — and a harder one. Kayce was always caught between two worlds, and Marshals turns that tension into the engine of a weekly crime drama: the ranch hand who became a soldier now has to enforce the law in the same country his family fought over. The Montana landscapes are as big as ever, the cases hit close to home, and Luke Grimes anchors it all with the same quiet intensity. Whether you followed every season of Yellowstone or are meeting Kayce for the first time, this is a western procedural with real emotional stakes.
