Overview

Set in an alternate world where the Holy Britannian Empire has conquered Japan and renamed it Area 11, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion follows Lelouch Lamperouge, a brilliant exiled prince living in disguise as an ordinary student. When a chance encounter with the mysterious girl C.C. grants him the Geass — a power that compels absolute obedience from anyone who meets his gaze — Lelouch seizes the chance to strike back at the empire that destroyed his family. Donning the mask of Zero, he builds the Black Knights into a rebellion that shakes Britannia to its core, while his closest friend Suzaku fights for change from inside the imperial system. Blending mecha battles, political intrigue and chess-like strategy, the series never lets its hero off easily: every victory costs something, and every secret threatens someone he loves. Across two tightly plotted seasons, Lelouch’s war escalates toward one of anime’s most debated and unforgettable endings.
