Overview
In the year 2138, the beloved online game Yggdrasil is shutting down for good. Veteran player Momonga stays logged in until the very last second — and then the servers never switch off. Trapped in the body of his skeletal overlord avatar, Ains Ooal Gown, he finds that the game’s world has become terrifyingly real: its non-player characters now think, feel, and swear loyalty to him. As the ruler of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, Ains must hide his very human uncertainty behind the mask of an all-powerful undead king while he explores a new world, tests its powers, and bends its kingdoms to his will. Overlord flips the usual isekai formula by putting the audience on the side of the villain — and it is darkly fascinating to watch.

Why Watch Overlord?
Overlord is the rare fantasy anime where the hero is the final boss. Watching Ains juggle his human conscience with his undead persona — while his fiercely loyal guardians misread his every bluff as genius strategy — is wickedly entertaining. The world-building is rich, the battles are brutal, and the moral gray zones keep you questioning who to root for. If you like dark fantasy with a twist, this is a must-watch.
