Overview
Two young Londoners, Raj and Simran, meet on a European holiday and fall in love despite coming from very different families. Simran’s strict father has already promised her to a childhood fiancé back in Punjab, so Raj follows her to India with a bold plan: not to run away with her, but to win her family’s blessing. Through songs, laughter, misunderstandings, and heartfelt confrontations, he tries to prove that love and respect for tradition can go hand in hand. Aditya Chopra’s debut became the defining Bollywood romance, running in a Mumbai cinema for decades and turning Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol into one of Indian cinema’s most beloved pairs.
