Overview

Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary workplace comedy set at a chronically underfunded public school in Philadelphia. Created by Quinta Brunson, it follows idealistic second-grade teacher Janine Teagues and her colleagues as they do their best for their students with little money, little district support, and a whole lot of heart. The ensemble includes veteran teacher Barbara Howard, no-nonsense Melissa Schemmenti, earnest Jacob Hill, self-absorbed principal Ava Coleman, and the ever-patient Gregory Eddie. Shot in documentary style, the show finds humor in staff-room politics, classroom chaos, and small victories — while never losing sight of the real challenges facing public education. Its warmth and sharp writing have made it one of the most acclaimed sitcoms of the decade.
