Overview

Set in the late 1970s, Mindhunter follows two FBI agents who are given an unusual assignment: sit down with convicted killers and try to understand how they think. Holden Ford is the eager young believer in the new science of profiling, convinced that listening carefully to monsters can save future victims, while Bill Tench provides the weary, pragmatic counterweight, always aware of the personal cost of the work. Psychologist Wendy Carr joins them to give the project academic rigor, turning interviews into data and data into a method. The show’s power comes from its patience. Long, quiet conversations replace shootouts, and the tension builds not from what happens next but from what is being revealed, slowly, in a prison interview room. It is a crime drama about ideas, and about the danger of getting too close to darkness while trying to explain it.
