Overview

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the prequel that explains how Tokyo Jujutsu High came to face its most dangerous enemies. High school student Yuta Okkotsu lives in fear of a powerful cursed spirit that follows him everywhere: Rika Orimoto, his childhood friend, who died in an accident and now clings to him with terrifying strength. When the jujutsu world takes notice, the teacher Satoru Gojo offers Yuta a choice: learn to control the curse or be executed for it. At Tokyo Jujutsu High, Yuta trains alongside Maki Zen’in, Toge Inumaki, and Panda, slowly learning to turn his fear into purpose and to see Rika not as a monster but as someone he failed to protect. Their fragile peace shatters when the sorcerer Suguru Geto declares war on non-sorcerers and launches the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, intending to seize Rika’s power for himself. Stunning battles, heartbreaking emotion, and the series’ trademark mix of horror and humor make this prequel a complete story in its own right — and a perfect entry point for newcomers.

Why Watch Jujutsu Kaisen 0?

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 delivers everything that made the series a phenomenon — fluid, bone-crunching fight animation from MAPPA, a cast of instantly likable students, and a villain with a chillingly sincere ideology — while telling a self-contained love story at its core. Yuta’s journey from frightened outcast to a sorcerer willing to sacrifice everything for Rika gives the spectacle real emotional weight, and Gojo and Geto’s shared past adds a tragic layer that reframes the entire series. Whether you are a longtime fan or have never seen an episode, this is one of the most accessible and affecting anime films of recent years.
