Overview

Nico Wakatsuki is a trainee witch with a big heart and even bigger magic, but her spells rarely go as planned. When a dire prophecy warns that disaster will befall her within a year, her childhood friend Morihito Otogi is given an unusual job: move in with her and keep her safe. Morihito is no ordinary high schooler either, as the descendant of ogres, he has superhuman strength and a famously serious face, which makes him the perfect straight man to Nico’s cheerful chaos. Together with their friends Kanshi, Keigo, and Nemu, the pair navigate school life, magical mishaps, and a slow-burn romance neither of them will admit to. Based on Kenta Shinohara’s manga, Witch Watch is a bright, warm-hearted comedy where every spell is a punchline and every disaster is an excuse for the cast to grow closer.

Creator and Main Cast

Witch Watch is based on the manga by Kenta Shinohara. The voice cast includes Rina Kawaguchi as Nico Wakatsuki, Ryota Suzuki as Morihito Otogi, Kohei Amasaki as Kanshi Kazamatsuri, Kaito Ishikawa as Keigo Magami, and Tomori Kusunoki as Nemu Miyao.

Seasons Snapshot

Season 1 has 25 episodes and premiered on April 6, 2025, with the finale, “Freshman Witch and Her Familiars,” airing on October 5, 2025. The season mixes standalone magical comedy with the slow build of Nico and Morihito’s relationship, plus a growing circle of friends with powers of their own. The series is listed as a returning series, so more of Nico’s magical misadventures may be on the way.

Why Watch Witch Watch?

Witch Watch is comfort viewing at its best: funny, sweet, and effortlessly charming. Nico’s spells go wrong in endlessly inventive ways, Morihito’s deadpan reactions are comedy gold, and the supporting cast keeps every episode fresh. Beneath the jokes, it is a genuinely warm story about childhood friends learning to rely on each other, with a prophecy hanging over them that gives the silliness real stakes. If you like your fantasy light, your romance slow-burn, and your comedy stacked with visual gags, this is an easy binge.
