Overview
In a world where heroes are made by public belief, trust is literally power. Fans’ faith is collected, quantified, and displayed on each hero’s wrist, and every two years the highest-ranked heroes battle in a tournament to decide who stands at the very top. To Be Hero X follows that brutal popularity contest through a rotating cast of heroes, each carrying their own secrets, wounds, and reasons for wanting the crown. There is Lin Ling, an ordinary office worker who inherits the mantle of the beloved hero Nice; E-Soul, a singer-turned-hero chasing a second chance; Lucky Cyan, a street musician with a voice worth believing in; and Ahu, a small, scrappy fighter with outsized heart. As their stories collide, the series asks what fame does to the people it elevates, and whether a hero built on applause can ever be real. Bold, stylish, and emotionally surprising, it turns the superhero genre inside out.
Creator and Main Cast
To Be Hero X was created by Li Haoling for bilibili and Aniplex. The voice cast includes Zhang Fuzheng as Ahu, Zhao Shuang as Lucky Cyan, Yang Kaiqi as Yang Cheng and the new E-Soul, Gu Jiangshan as Lin Ling and Nice, and Nie Xiying as Pomelo and Wang Nuonuo.
Seasons Snapshot
Season 1 has 24 episodes and premiered on April 6, 2025, with the finale, “X,” airing on September 14, 2025. The season is structured around individual hero arcs that gradually weave into a single, larger story about trust, fame, and the price of being loved. The series is listed as a returning series, so more of this world may be on the way.
Why Watch To Be Hero X?
To Be Hero X stands out because its central mechanic is also its sharpest commentary: in this world, a hero is only as strong as the crowd’s belief, so every battle doubles as a popularity contest with real stakes. The rotating-protagonist structure keeps the show constantly fresh, shifting from one hero’s tragedy to another’s triumph without losing momentum, while the mixed-media animation swings from slick 3D action to expressive 2D emotion. It is funny, cynical, and genuinely moving in turn, and it never lets its heroes off the hook for the fame they crave.
