Overview
In 2052, the world believes it has been cured. Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist Dr. Skinner has created Hapna, a miracle drug that frees humanity from pain and disease, and nearly everyone takes it. Then Skinner vanishes, and with him comes a horrifying revelation: three years after taking Hapna, every user will die. With just 30 days until the deadline, a special task force nicknamed Lazarus is assembled to track Skinner down and find a cure before humanity’s time runs out. Led by the unflappable Hersch, the team includes Axel, a daredevil fresh out of prison; Doug, a level-headed strategist; Christine, a sharp-tongued operative; Leland, a wealthy young hacker; and Eleina, a brilliant prodigy. From the director of Cowboy Bebop, Lazarus is a globe-trotting sci-fi thriller packed with parkour chases, jazz-soaked style, and a ticking clock that never lets up.

Lazarus was created by Shinichiro Watanabe and animated by MAPPA. The voice cast includes Mamoru Miyano as Axel, Makoto Furukawa as Doug, Maaya Uchida as Christine, Yuma Uchida as Leland, Manaka Iwami as Eleina, and Megumi Hayashibara as Hersch.

Why Watch Lazarus?
Lazarus is pure Watanabe: stylish, musical, and effortlessly cool, with the same globe-trotting energy that made Cowboy Bebop a classic. The 30-day countdown gives every episode real urgency, while the team’s clashing personalities keep the journey fun even as the stakes turn existential. MAPPA’s animation shines in the hand-to-hand fights and parkour sequences, and the jazz-inflected soundtrack ties it all together. It is a thriller that trusts its audience, asks big questions about science and salvation, and never stops moving.
