Overview
In a near-future America, the most-watched show on television is also the deadliest. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards agrees to enter The Running Man, a brutal nationwide game in which contestants are hunted for sport while millions watch. The show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian, and its slick host, Bobby T., promise Richards a fortune if he survives thirty days on the run. But as the cameras roll and the Hunters close in, Richards’ defiance turns him into an unexpected fan favorite — and a threat to the entire system. Directed by Edgar Wright from Stephen King’s novel, this is a high-octane chase across a country addicted to watching one man fall. With the nation cheering and the danger rising by the hour, Richards must outwit the Hunters, expose the rigged game, and stay alive long enough to turn the show against the people who built it.
Why Watch The Running Man?
Because it takes one of Stephen King’s most prophetic premises — a society that turns survival into entertainment — and gives it Edgar Wright’s kinetic, crowd-pleasing energy. Glen Powell is a magnetic everyman hero, Josh Brolin and Colman Domingo are deliciously sinister as the men running the show, and the action never lets up. It is part thriller, part satire, and uncomfortably close to the world we already live in.
