Overview
The Loved One is a Filipino romantic drama about a love that never really ended. Ten years after they parted, former lovers Ellie and Eric meet again and trace the memories of a love and sorrow that never went away. Directed and written by Irene Emma Villamor, the film follows the pair as they revisit what they had, what they lost, and what still pulls them together — a story summed up by its tagline: love turns ordinary people into poets, philosophers… and monsters. Anne Curtis stars as Ellie and Jericho Rosales as Eric, with Catriona Gray as Nicole, Jackie Lou Blanco as Evelyn, Adrian Alandy as Greg, Ian Pangilinan as Edward, and Max Eigenmann as Kyla in support. At 1 hour and 40 minutes, it is a reflective, grown-up romance about second chances and the memories we cannot outrun.
Why Watch The Loved One?
Second-chance romances work when the leads make you believe in the history between them, and Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales give Ellie and Eric exactly that lived-in weight. Rather than a whirlwind new love, the film is about the harder question: can two people pick up a story they left unfinished a decade ago? Villamor’s direction keeps the focus on memory, regret, and tenderness, making it a rewarding watch for viewers who like romantic dramas with emotional depth and a mature point of view.
