Overview
Hank Malone is a former soldier turned high-end courier, and his latest job is the kind that leaves no room for error: a critical medical delivery that must reach its destination on a punishing deadline. What starts as a race against the clock quickly turns into a fight for survival, because the cargo he is carrying has made him a target, and the people hunting him are not about to let him finish the run. With danger closing in from every direction, Hank has to rely on the instincts, discipline, and sheer stubbornness he learned in uniform, pushing himself through one desperate situation after another as the hours tick away. Runner builds its tension around that simple, relentless premise — one man, one delivery, and a city full of obstacles — and lets Alan Ritchson carry the action with a mix of physical intensity and dry, wry humor. Directed by Scott Waugh, the film keeps its pace brisk and its stakes personal, turning an urgent errand into a full-throttle chase where every shortcut could be a trap and every delay could cost a life.
Why Watch Runner?
Runner is the kind of action film that knows exactly what it wants to be: fast, tense, and fun. Alan Ritchson is a natural fit for Hank Malone, a hero who solves problems with his fists as often as with his head, and Owen Wilson brings an unexpected, welcome counterweight as Ben Bishop. The ticking-clock setup keeps the story moving without needing elaborate twists, and the comedy lands because it grows out of the characters rather than undercutting the danger. If you like lean, propulsive action movies with a strong lead performance and a premise you can explain in one sentence, Runner delivers exactly that — a high-stakes delivery run that never slows down long enough for you to catch your breath.
