Overview
Mad Men is the rare drama that makes an office feel like a battlefield and a decade feel like a character. Set inside the fictional Madison Avenue advertising agency Sterling Cooper, the series follows the brilliant, self-destructive creative director Don Draper — a man living under a borrowed name — as he navigates the booming, boozy, smoke-filled world of 1960s advertising alongside the ambitious copywriter Peggy Olson, the sharp office manager Joan Holloway, and the rest of a cast that grows richer with every season. What begins as a stylish period piece about martinis and pitch meetings slowly deepens into a devastating study of identity, marriage, ambition, and the American dream itself, tracking its characters from 1960 through the decade’s cultural upheaval. Few shows have ever been this meticulous: every suit, cigarette, and cocktail is in period-perfect place, yet the real pleasures are quieter — a glance across a conference table, a line of dialogue that lands like a punch. Mad Men doesn’t just recreate the sixties; it understands them.

Why Watch Mad Men?
Mad Men is television for people who love to watch characters think. Beneath the immaculate period detail lies one of the most psychologically rich dramas ever made — a show about people lying to themselves as elegantly as they lie to clients. Don Draper’s secret past, Peggy’s climb through a boys’ club, and Joan’s navigation of power all unfold with a patience most series never attempt, and the payoff is enormous: by the final season, you know these people better than some of your own friends. Pour something strong, settle in, and let the sixties unfold.
