Landman

2024 • TMDB 8.2 • 2 seasons • 20 episodes • Drama • Paramount+

Overview

Landman plants Taylor Sheridan’s signature West Texas grit squarely in the oil business, following Tommy Norris, a crisis manager — a “landman” — who keeps a sprawling petroleum empire running while his own life keeps threatening to blow out. Billy Bob Thornton plays Tommy as a man who can talk his way out of any rig-site disaster but can’t quite outrun his ex-wife, his complicated kids, or the billionaire boss whose fortune depends on him. The show moves between two worlds: the roughnecks and rough deals of the patch, and the polished, high-stakes lives of the families getting rich off it. Beneath the boardroom scheming and boomtown chaos sits a story about loyalty, survival, and the cost of the American energy dream. Landman is Sheridan at his most quotable, pairing muscular, darkly funny dialogue with a portrait of an industry — and a family — running on fumes and nerve.
