Overview
U.S. Marshal Madolyn Harris has a simple job: get government witness Winston to New York to testify against a mob family. The plan is a short hop across the Alaskan wilderness in a small charter plane, piloted by the easygoing Daryl Booth. But somewhere over the mountains, the mission falls apart. Booth is not who he claims to be — he is a hitman hired to make sure Winston never reaches a courtroom. Trapped thousands of feet up with a killer at the controls and nowhere to run, Harris must fight for the cockpit, keep her witness alive, and somehow land a plane she was never trained to fly. Directed by Mel Gibson, Flight Risk is a lean, high-altitude thriller that squeezes almost all of its tension out of three people, one cramped cabin, and the vast, unforgiving landscape below. With a tight 91-minute runtime, it wastes little time on setup and keeps the pressure rising until the final descent.
Why Watch Flight Risk?
Because it flips Mark Wahlberg’s usual hero persona on its head: his unhinged, bald, scene-chewing turn as Booth is the film’s main draw, and watching Michelle Dockery’s cool-headed marshal go toe to toe with him in such a confined space is genuinely gripping. Gibson keeps the camera close and the pace brisk, so the movie plays like a pressure cooker — a throwback B-movie thriller that knows exactly what it is and never overstays its welcome.
