    Overview

Marty Byrde is a mild-mannered financial adviser with a very large problem: to stay alive, he must launder $500 million for a Mexican drug cartel. So he drags his wife Wendy and their two children from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where a quiet lake town hides a whole ecosystem of crime — hillbilly heroin dealers, a riverboat casino scheme and an FBI agent who never stops watching. Ozark is tense, bleak and brilliantly acted, a show where every solution creates two worse problems. Jason Bateman and Laura Linney are superb as a couple whose marriage becomes as dangerous as their business, and Julia Garner steals scene after scene as Ruth Langmore, the sharp-tongued local who becomes the show’s beating heart. No one gets out clean — the tagline is a promise.

    The Walking Dead poster

    Overview

When Sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes wakes from a coma, the world he knew is gone — replaced by roaming walkers and scattered survivors clinging to whatever humanity they have left. The Walking Dead began as a tense survival story and grew into one of television’s defining epics, following Rick’s group from Atlanta’s highways to prisons, farms, walled towns and full-blown war. But the show’s real power was never the zombies. It was the question underneath: what do people become when the rules disappear? Over eleven seasons, friendships hardened into family, leaders rose and fell, and villains like the Governor and Negan forced impossible choices. Brutal, emotional and relentlessly tense, it turned the apocalypse into a mirror — and made us care about the living far more than the dead.

    Overview

Doctor Who is television’s great shape-shifter: a 900-year-old Time Lord who travels time and space in a police box bigger on the inside, saving planets and picking up ordinary people for the adventure of a lifetime. The 2005 revival brought the Doctor back with fresh energy, pairing each new incarnation — from Christopher Eccleston’s battle-scarred Ninth Doctor through David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker — with companions who ground the cosmic spectacle in human emotion. One week it’s a Dalek invasion, the next a quiet love story on a spaceship; the show’s genius is that both feel equally at home. Playful, scary, heartfelt and endlessly inventive, Doctor Who rewards newcomers and lifelong fans alike, because at its core it’s always about the same thing: a lonely wanderer who believes that ordinary people can change the universe.

    Landman poster

    Overview

Landman plants Taylor Sheridan’s signature West Texas grit squarely in the oil business, following Tommy Norris, a crisis manager — a “landman” — who keeps a sprawling petroleum empire running while his own life keeps threatening to blow out. Billy Bob Thornton plays Tommy as a man who can talk his way out of any rig-site disaster but can’t quite outrun his ex-wife, his complicated kids, or the billionaire boss whose fortune depends on him. The show moves between two worlds: the roughnecks and rough deals of the patch, and the polished, high-stakes lives of the families getting rich off it. Beneath the boardroom scheming and boomtown chaos sits a story about loyalty, survival, and the cost of the American energy dream. Landman is Sheridan at his most quotable, pairing muscular, darkly funny dialogue with a portrait of an industry — and a family — running on fumes and nerve.

    The Rookie poster

    Overview

The Rookie turns a classic second-chance story into one of network TV’s most durable procedurals. John Nolan, a 45-year-old small-town man, walks away from his old life after a bank robbery shakes him awake and becomes the LAPD’s oldest rookie. His age makes him a curiosity to some and a punchline to others, but Nolan’s life experience — patience, empathy, stubborn decency — turns out to be exactly what policing needs. Around him, the show builds a full ensemble: Lucy Chen’s rise from rookie to undercover standout, Tim Bradford’s gruff mentorship, Angela Lopez’s sharp detective work and Wade Grey’s steady command. Cases range from street crime to international conspiracies, but the show’s real engine is character: rookies growing up, partners falling for each other, mentors learning from their trainees. Nathan Fillion’s warmth keeps it all grounded, and eight seasons in, Nolan’s journey from rookie to training officer still feels earned.

    The Good Doctor poster

    Overview

The Good Doctor puts a fresh spin on the medical drama through Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who joins the surgical unit at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. Shaun’s extraordinary spatial memory and diagnostic instincts make him brilliant in the operating room, yet the social rules of hospital life — small talk, hierarchy, doubt — trip him up at every turn. The show’s best episodes pair a gripping medical case with a personal test: will his colleagues trust him, will his mentor Dr. Glassman keep defending him, and can Shaun build a life outside the hospital? Over seven seasons it follows him from wary newcomer to confident surgeon, husband and father, without ever reducing him to a gimmick. Freddie Highmore anchors the series with a performance that is warm, precise and deeply human, and the ensemble around him — Glassman, Claire, Lim, Andrews and Lea — gives Shaun’s journey real emotional weight.

    This Is Us poster

    Overview

On the surface, This Is Us is the story of three siblings — Kevin, Kate and Randall, the “Big Three” — who share a birthday and a lifetime of triumphs, arguments and reconciliations. Beneath that surface, it is something far richer: a decades-spanning portrait of the Pearson family, moving between the 1980s, when Jack and Rebecca raise their triplets in Pittsburgh, and the present day, where their adult children wrestle with careers, relationships, parenthood and grief. The show’s great trick is its timeline, which turns every revelation into a re-reading of what came before — a throwaway line in one era becomes a heartbreak in another. Across six seasons, it tackles adoption, addiction, body image, dementia and the slow work of becoming a family, always with warmth and without easy answers. By the finale, the Pearsons feel less like characters and more like people you have known for years, which is exactly why millions of viewers cried through every season.

    Hannibal poster

    Overview

Will Graham is the FBI’s most gifted profiler — and its most fragile. He can think like a killer, see what they see and feel what they feel, but every case costs him a piece of himself. To keep him steady, his boss Jack Crawford pairs him with Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist with exquisite taste. The catch, which the audience knows long before Will does, is that Lecter is himself a serial killer, the Chesapeake Ripper, quietly steering the investigation from inside it. What follows is one of television’s great toxic relationships: a cat-and-mouse game between two men who understand each other better than anyone else alive. Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal is also staggeringly beautiful — a baroque horror of artful murder scenes, lavish dinner parties and operatic dread — and across three seasons it grows from a procedural into a dark, twisted love story.
