Overview
Clannad: After Story picks up where the first season left off, following Tomoya Okazaki and Nagisa Furukawa out of high school and into adult life. Where the original series was a school romance, After Story is a story about what comes next: graduation, work, marriage, and the hard, quiet responsibilities of growing up. Tomoya takes a job and tries to build a life with Nagisa, but illness, loss and family wounds keep testing them. Nagisa’s fragile health returns to the foreground, and after their daughter Ushio is born, Tomoya must face grief and fatherhood largely on his own, with help from Nagisa’s parents, Akio and Sanae, and his old friend Sunohara. Woven through the story is the mysterious illusionary world and its lonely girl, a thread that slowly reveals its meaning in the finale. Famous for reducing viewers to tears, After Story is widely regarded as one of the most emotional anime ever made, and a rare sequel that surpasses the original.
