Overview

Deep underground, humanity hides in villages where the sky is a myth — until Simon, a shy young digger, unearths a small robot head with a drill, and his swaggering big brother Kamina leads him to the surface. Above ground, beastmen in giant Gunmen rule the land, and the brothers answer with their own mecha: Lagann, combined with Kamina’s stolen Gurren to form the unstoppable Gurren Lagann. What starts as a scrappy rebellion grows episode by episode into something far bigger — a war against the Spiral King, a seven-year time skip, and finally a battle for the fate of the universe itself. Studio Trigger’s predecessor Gainax pours pure adrenaline into every frame, with a hero’s journey about believing in yourself, a mentor whose spirit outlives him, and the most famous drill in anime history. Row, row, fight the power — this is a series that only ever goes bigger.
