The Beast in Me
2025 • TMDB 7.1 • 1 season, 8 episodes • Drama, Mystery
Overview
Agatha “Aggie” Wiggs is a celebrated author who has lost her ability to write — and, in many ways, herself — after a devastating loss. Then Nile Jarvis moves in next door: wealthy, charming, and impossible to ignore. Aggie becomes convinced that Nile may be responsible for his wife’s disappearance, and what begins as curiosity hardens into obsession. The Beast in Me follows their dangerous game of cat and mouse, as Aggie digs into Nile’s past and Nile, in turn, seems to see straight through her. Created by Gabe Rotter for Netflix, the series unfolds as a tense psychological drama about grief, guilt, and the stories people tell to survive. Claire Danes is superb as Aggie, and Matthew Rhys matches her beat for beat as a man who is either a monster or merely a mirror for her own darkness. Across eight episodes, the show keeps its central question hanging until the very end.

Why Watch The Beast in Me?
The Beast in Me is worth watching for its two central performances alone. Claire Danes plays Aggie with raw, trembling intensity, while Matthew Rhys gives Nile a polished charm that never quite settles into trustworthiness, so every scene between them crackles with uncertainty. The series also understands that the best psychological dramas are about more than a mystery: it is a story about grief, about the damage people do to each other, and about how easily obsession can disguise itself as justice. The pacing is tight, the twists land, and the finale reframes everything that came before. If you like slow-burn thrillers with literary flair, this one will get under your skin.
