Overview
Before Everest had a name on every tongue, it had a man who knew its slopes like his own heartbeat. Tenzing tells the story of Tenzing Norgay, the Sherpa climber whose skill, courage, and quiet determination carried the first successful ascent of the world’s highest mountain. Directed by Jennifer Peedom, the film follows Tenzing from his early life in the Himalayas through the grueling expeditions that tested every climber who dared the peak, and into the historic 1953 climb alongside Edmund Hillary. It is a story of partnership across cultures, of a man long overlooked by history finally standing at its center, and of the mountain that demanded everything from those who loved it. With sweeping Himalayan landscapes and an intimate, human heart, Tenzing restores a legendary figure to his rightful place.

Watch Tenzing because it finally gives the mountain’s greatest climber his due. For decades, the Everest story was told from one side; this film centers the Sherpa whose strength and knowledge made the summit possible. Peedom, a filmmaker who knows the Himalayas deeply, brings authenticity to every step of the climb, and Genden Phuntsok’s performance is both humble and commanding.
