Overview

Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 gathers eight short stories the Chainsaw Man creator wrote between the ages of seventeen and twenty-six and turns each one into a standalone anime episode. Six studios and seven directors share the work, so no two episodes look or feel quite alike: one may lean into tender first love, the next into absurd comedy, and another into the kind of unsettling, off-kilter horror that made Fujimoto famous. The collection even includes the first manga he ever submitted for competition, giving viewers a rare chance to watch a major talent find his voice in real time. At around eighteen minutes an episode, the anthology is easy to dip into, but its images linger — a hand held in sunlight, a city turned upside down, a joke that curdles into dread. For fans of Chainsaw Man and Look Back, it is both a prehistory and a playground.

Creator and Main Cast

Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 adapts the early manga of Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man and Look Back, with six studios and seven directors — including Naoya Ando, Seishirou Nagaya, Osamu Honma, Nobukage Kimura, Nobuyuki Takeuchi, and Tetsuaki Watanabe — bringing the eight stories to life. Because it is an anthology, the cast changes with each episode: Kensho Ono voices Yūto, Shion Sakurai voices Ami, Kazuki Ura voices Yōhei, Kimiko Saito voices Megumi Kaneda, Mitsuo Iwata voices Masatoshi Endō, and Shun Horie voices Ibuki, with each performer appearing in a single episode.

Seasons Snapshot

The miniseries consists of eight episodes, all of which premiered on Prime Video on November 8, 2025, with the finale, “Sisters,” arriving the same day. The series is listed as Ended, and each episode runs around eighteen minutes.

Why Watch Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26?

What makes Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 special is its variety. Instead of one long story, it offers eight short experiments from the same restless imagination, each filtered through a different studio and director. You can watch a gentle romance and a grotesque nightmare back to back and still feel the same authorial spark underneath. It is also the clearest window into how Fujimoto became Fujimoto: the obsessions with love, violence, absurdity, and tenderness are all here in embryo, rendered with a freedom that a long-running series rarely allows. Short, strange, and consistently surprising, it is one of the most rewarding anime discoveries of 2025.
