Overview
Newtopia begins with a breakup — and then the world ends. Jae-yoon, a late military enlistee, and his girlfriend Young-joo split over the phone after a string of misunderstandings, just as a zombie virus tears through Seoul. Trapped with his unit on top of a skyscraper, Jae-yoon fights to survive the outbreak while Young-joo risks the zombie-filled streets to reach him. Based on the novel Influenza, this is a zombie drama with a difference: it is as much a love story as a survival story, mixing horror, action and surprisingly warm comedy as two people who just broke up discover whether their relationship can survive the apocalypse. With its sharp satire, inventive zombie set pieces and a genuinely moving central romance, Newtopia asks the ultimate question — can love survive the end of the world?

Why Watch Newtopia?
Newtopia is worth watching because it does something rare with the zombie genre: it makes you laugh and feel in equal measure. Park Jeong-min and JISOO make a charming, funny and believable couple, and the skyscraper setting gives the action a fresh, claustrophobic twist. If you like All of Us Are Dead but want something with more heart and humor, Newtopia is a perfect weekend binge.
