Overview
In a world where humanity survives on a single continent, hemmed in by terrifying dark beasts, an expedition of thirteen chosen heroes sets out to slay Clevatess, one of the Lords of Dark Beasts. The mission ends in disaster: Clevatess destroys the heroes with ease. Yet instead of finishing the job, the beast lord makes an unexpected choice. He revives Alicia, one of the heroes he slew, and takes in Luna, an orphaned humanoid baby who may be the last hope for a dying world. Bound together by fate, the unlikely trio must cross a dangerous land where humans, beasts, and warring kingdoms collide. As Alicia wrestles with serving the creature who killed her comrades and Luna’s mysterious origins begin to surface, Clevatess himself starts to question what he has become. Clevatess is a dark fantasy that turns its premise on its head: the final boss becomes a reluctant guardian, and the real battle is over what kind of world the trio will build.

Clevatess is based on the original concept by Yuji Iwahara, with Kiyotaka Taguchi as series director. The voice cast includes Yuichi Nakamura as Clevatess, Haruka Shiraishi as Alicia, Mutsumi Tamura as Clen, and Saya Aizawa as Luna.
Seasons Snapshot
Season 1 has 12 episodes and premiered on July 2, 2025, with the finale, “Return of the King,” airing on September 17, 2025. A second season followed in 2026, continuing the story.
Why Watch Clevatess?
Clevatess is worth watching because it flips the usual fantasy script. Its most powerful figure is not the hero but the monster, and watching a feared beast lord learn responsibility through a revived hero and a helpless child gives the action real emotional weight. The world is brutal and beautifully drawn, the battles are intense, and the central question — whether a creature built for destruction can protect something fragile — keeps every episode tense. Fans of dark fantasy with a sharp twist will find it hard to stop at one episode.
