Overview
In 1914, on the eve of a war that will reshape the world, two teenagers from opposite sides of a divided Europe are thrown together by fate. Prince Aleksandar, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, is forced to flee for his life after an assassination plunges his empire toward conflict. Meanwhile, Deryn Sharp, a Scottish girl disguised as a boy, serves aboard the Leviathan, a colossal living airship grown from engineered beasts. In this alternate past, the machine-loving Clankers face off against the beast-crafting Darwinists, and Aleksandar and Deryn must learn to trust each other as they race across a continent on the brink of war. Their unlikely friendship may be the only thing standing between the world and catastrophe.

Why Watch Leviathan?
Leviathan is worth watching because its steampunk world is unlike anything else in anime: walking war machines clash with living airships, and a fugitive prince and a girl in disguise must bridge the gap between two rival ways of life. With Studio Orange’s polished CG animation and a story that mixes adventure, politics, and friendship, it is a fresh take on the eve of World War I.
