Overview
In a Japan constantly battered by giant monsters, Kafka Hibino once dreamed of fighting kaiju alongside his childhood friend Mina Ashiro. Instead, at 32, he cleans up after the battles while Mina commands the Defense Force. Then a small, strange creature flies into his mouth — and Kafka transforms into a powerful kaiju himself, the one the military dubs Kaiju No. 8. Now he must hide his monstrous secret while finally chasing his dream, training beside young recruits who want to destroy exactly what he has become. Kaiju No. 8 is a thrilling, funny, and surprisingly moving underdog story about second chances, with spectacular monster battles and a hero who refuses to give up, no matter how impossible the odds.

Why Watch Kaiju No. 8?
Because it flips the monster movie on its head: the hero is the monster, and he is also the most human character on screen. The action is huge, the humor lands, and Kafka’s late-blooming dream makes every victory feel earned. It is a blockbuster with a big heart.
