    Overview

On the edge of a seaside village where gossip travels faster than the tide, one woman has had enough of being laughed at. The fisherwoman, played with glorious stubbornness by Olivia Colman, is single, outspoken, and perpetually ridiculed by her small-minded neighbors. So she does the only sensible thing: she commissions herself a husband — made entirely of wicker. What follows is a tender, mischievous romance unlike anything else this year. Her woven husband, played by Alexander Skarsgård, is gentle, attentive, and baffling to everyone around him, and their unlikely love affair turns the village upside down. Jealousy flares, scandals bloom, and long-buried resentments surface as the town tries to decide whether this strange marriage is a miracle, a scandal, or both. Directed by Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer, Wicker is a fable about wanting to be loved exactly as you are, told with wit, warmth, and a delightfully straight face.

    Director & Cast

Directors: Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer. Main cast: Olivia Colman as the Fisherwoman, Alexander Skarsgård as the Wicker Husband, Peter Dinklage as the Basket Weaver, Elizabeth Debicki as the Tailor’s Wife.

    Why Watch Wicker?

Watch Wicker for a romance that dares to be completely, joyfully odd. Colman is magnificent — funny, furious, and heartbreakingly vulnerable — and Skarsgård plays his woven husband with surprising sweetness and stillness. The film’s real magic is how seriously it takes its absurd premise: beneath the jokes about a wicker spouse lies a sharp story about a woman refusing to shrink herself to fit a judgmental village. It is romantic without being sentimental, funny without being cruel, and visually lovely, with its coastal setting lending the fable a storybook glow. If you like love stories with imagination, this one will stay with you.

    Overview

Sarah Jenkins has a plan that sounds simple and feels anything but: pretend to be engaged to a racing driver she barely knows, keep the story convincing long enough to get what she needs, and walk away before anyone gets hurt. Dante Annunziata has his own reasons for agreeing, and the racetrack world they enter together is a pressure cooker of speed, sponsorship, cameras and rivalries that leave no room for a lie to breathe. As fake dates turn into real conversations and staged affection starts to feel uncomfortably genuine, Sarah must navigate not only the danger closing in around Dante’s world, but the growing risk that she is falling for the very pretence she created. Director Sergej Moya, adapting a novel by Tamara Lush, keeps the film moving between two gears: the glossy, high-adrenaline surface of motorsport and the quieter, more vulnerable moments in which two people who are supposed to be acting stop performing. The result is a romantic thriller that understands both halves of its genre — the rush of the race and the slow, dangerous work of trusting someone you met under false pretences.

    Director & Cast

Director: Sergej Moya. Main cast: Lisa-Marie Koroll as Sarah Jenkins, Amin Baahmed as Dante Annunziata, Gustav Schmidt as a rival driver.

Why Watch Drive – The Pretenders?

Watch Drive – The Pretenders for a romance that does not pretend the pretence is harmless. The fake-engagement setup could have been pure fluff, but Moya uses it to ask sharper questions about performance, ambition and the stories people tell to survive in a public, high-stakes world. Koroll and Baahmed sell both the spark and the strain, and the racing backdrop gives their scenes a pulse that keeps the thriller half honest. If you like romantic stories with real tension — where every kiss could be a clue and every race could change the stakes — this is a sleek, emotionally engaging ride.

    Overview

When the Dashwood family loses its home and much of its fortune, sisters Elinor and Marianne must build a new life on far less than they once had. Elinor, steady and private, keeps her feelings close, while Marianne, open and passionate, loves fiercely and suffers just as fiercely when promises break. Around them, a world of balls, drawing rooms, gossip, and family duty decides who is a suitable match and who is not, and both sisters learn how quickly reputation can matter more than truth. Director Georgia Oakley brings Jane Austen’s beloved story to the screen with warmth and wit, letting the sisters’ different ways of loving — sense and sensibility — play out in sharp, tender contrast. It is a story of heartbreak and resilience, of sisters holding each other up, and of finding a happiness that is earned rather than simply inherited.

    Why Watch Sense and Sensibility?

Watch it if you love a period romance with real emotional bite. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles make Elinor and Marianne feel like sisters you know — funny, flawed, and fiercely loyal — and the supporting cast, including Caitríona Balfe, George MacKay, and Frank Dillane, gives every drawing-room scene a spark. Oakley’s direction keeps Austen’s wit intact while making the stakes feel modern: money, family pressure, and the freedom to choose whom you love. It is handsome, romantic, and quietly moving, and it rewards viewers who enjoy a story where character, not spectacle, drives every turn.
