Overview
In December 1941, the Moroccan city of Casablanca is the last stop for refugees fleeing Nazi-occupied Europe, all desperate for the letters of transit that will carry them to freedom. At the center of this anxious crossroads sits Rick Blaine, a cynical American expatriate who runs the city’s most popular café and insists he sticks his neck out for nobody. His carefully guarded neutrality shatters when Ilsa Lund walks back into his life, accompanied by her husband, resistance leader Victor Laszlo, and carrying the same letters Rick now holds. Forced to choose between the love he lost in Paris and the greater cause he abandoned, Rick must decide what kind of man he truly is. Michael Curtiz directs a flawless wartime romance of sacrifice, wit, and smoky intrigue, where every line feels quotable and every glance carries a lifetime of regret.

Why Watch Casablanca?
Casablanca is the rare film that fully earns its reputation as one of the greatest ever made. It blends romance, suspense, comedy, and wartime drama into a perfectly paced 102 minutes, with a script so sharp that its dialogue entered everyday language: “Here’s looking at you, kid,” “We’ll always have Paris,” and a finale that still divides and delights audiences. Bogart and Bergman are magnetic, Claude Rains steals nearly every scene, and the foggy airport farewell remains one of cinema’s defining moments. If you have never seen it, you owe yourself the experience; if you have, it only gets better.
