Binnelanders

Overview

Binnelanders is South Africa’s long-running Afrikaans soap, set in and around the fictional private hospital Binneland Kliniek in Pretoria. For two decades it has followed the doctors, nurses and patients whose professional crises and private lives collide in the wards, the boardroom and at home. Romance, rivalry, betrayal and medical emergencies drive daily episodes that end on the kind of cliffhanger that keeps viewers returning the next day.

The show’s strength is its ensemble. Characters such as Dr. At Koster and Dr. Tertius Jonker have anchored thousands of episodes, while new arrivals regularly shake up the hospital’s hierarchy. Whether a storyline turns on a risky surgery, a family secret or a forbidden affair, Binnelanders plays it with the warmth and melodrama that have made it a kykNET institution since 2005.
