Overview
Fifteen years ago, Matt and Emily were among the CIA’s best operatives — until a mission gone wrong gave them the chance to disappear and build the normal life they had always wanted. Now they are suburban parents, juggling school runs and teenage drama, and their old life feels like a story from another world. That changes in an instant when their cover is blown and old enemies come looking for them, forcing the couple to dust off skills they swore they would never use again. With their two children in tow, Matt and Emily are pulled back into a globe-trotting mission full of chases, double-crosses and close calls, while trying to keep their family together — and keep the kids from learning too much about what their parents really did. Director Seth Gordon leans into the comedy of two retired spies forced back into the field, and Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz make a sparky, funny double act at the centre of it all.
Why Watch Back in Action?
Because it pairs two effortlessly charismatic stars in a breezy action-comedy that never takes itself too seriously. Foxx and Diaz trade jokes as easily as they trade punches, and the family-on-the-run twist keeps the action fresh — every chase matters more when the kids are in the back seat. Add Glenn Close and Kyle Chandler to the mix, and you have an easy, crowd-pleasing night in.
