Overview

Thirty-four years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, Johnny Lawrence is a down-on-his-luck handyman still haunted by his defeat — and by the sensei who shaped him. When he takes a bullied teenager, Miguel Diaz, under his wing, Johnny reopens the Cobra Kai dojo, reviving its no-mercy philosophy for a new generation. That decision drags his old rival Daniel LaRusso back into the fight: now a successful car dealer and family man, Daniel sees Cobra Kai’s return as a threat to everything he built — and to the teachings of Mr. Miyagi. What begins as a rivalry between two middle-aged men becomes a full-blown dojo war, pulling in their children, their students and ghosts from the Karate Kid films. Funny, warm and surprisingly moving, Cobra Kai turns nostalgia into something richer: a story about second chances, bad teachers, good students, and whether people can ever really change.
