Overview
Nichijou: My Ordinary Life takes the most ordinary school days imaginable and detonates them with absurd comedy. High school friends Yuuko Aioi, Mio Naganohara and Mai Minakami navigate classes, clubs and crushes, but in their world a trip to buy coffee can end in a gunfight, a deer can body-slam a student, and the principal can suplex a goat. Across town, the child genius Hakase (the Professor) lives with Nano, a robot girl who desperately wants to be normal despite the giant wind-up key sticking out of her back, and Sakamoto, a talking black cat in a red scarf. Kyoto Animation’s sketch comedy stitches these two worlds together with rapid-fire gags, deadpan timing and surprisingly heartfelt moments, building a cult following that has only grown since its original run. It is a show where nothing happens and everything happens at once — and that contradiction is exactly the joke.
