Overview

Your Lie in April opens on a boy who has lost his music. Kousei Arima was a piano prodigy until his mother’s death left him unable to hear the notes he plays, and for years he has drifted through a colorless, silent world. Everything changes when he meets Kaori Miyazono, a free-spirited violinist whose performances break every rule he was raised to follow. Dragged back onto the stage as her accompanist, Kousei begins to rediscover not only his sound but also the joy, fear and heartbreak that come with truly feeling music again. Around them, childhood friends Tsubaki and Watari wrestle with their own unspoken feelings, giving the story a warmth and ache that lingers long after each performance. With gorgeous animation and a classical soundtrack that does much of the emotional talking, this single-season drama builds toward a finale that has left audiences in tears for a decade — a reminder that some lies are told out of love, and some music is meant to be heard with the heart.
