The Amazing Digital Circus

2023 • TMDB 8.7 • 1 season • Animation, Comedy, Drama & Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Overview

Pomni wakes up in a place that looks like a cartoon and behaves like a trap. The Amazing Digital Circus strands six humans inside a virtual big top run by Caine, a gleefully unstable AI ringmaster, and then asks a deceptively simple question: what happens to a person when escape is impossible and the show must go on? Each episode throws the cast into a new adventure, from candy kingdoms to haunted houses, but the real drama is psychological. Beneath the bright colors and slapstick, Pomni, Jax, Ragatha, Gangle, Kinger and Zooble wrestle with identity, memory and the fear of “abstracting” into something no longer human. Created by Gooseworx, the series pairs eye-popping 3D animation with sharp, darkly funny writing, and it never talks down to its audience. It is absurd, unsettling and surprisingly tender, a cartoon about losing yourself that manages to feel hopeful about holding on.
