Overview
Shrek is a grumpy ogre who loves his quiet swamp life, until the scheming Lord Farquaad banishes a crowd of fairy-tale creatures to his land. Determined to reclaim his peace, Shrek strikes a deal: he will rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona from a dragon-guarded tower in exchange for Farquaad clearing the swamp. He sets out with Donkey, a relentlessly talkative companion he never asked for, and the journey quickly turns into a funny, surprisingly tender adventure. Along the way, Shrek confronts what people assume about him, while Fiona proves far more than the damsel in the storybooks. Their growing bond challenges the idea that heroes and princesses must look or behave a certain way.
