Overview

In Taisho-era Japan, kind-hearted charcoal seller Tanjiro Kamado returns home to find his family slaughtered by demons and his younger sister Nezuko transformed into one — yet still clinging to her humanity. Refusing to abandon her, Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps, a secret order of swordsmen who hunt the creatures that stalk the night. Through grueling training he learns the breathing techniques that turn swordplay into something almost elemental, and each mission pushes him further into a world of flamboyant Hashira, grotesque Upper Rank demons and painful moral choices. What sets the series apart is its emotional core: beneath the spectacular battles and ufotable’s luminous animation lies a story about grief, compassion and stubborn hope, where even monsters carry tragic pasts. As Tanjiro grows stronger, the war against the demon king Muzan Kibutsuji intensifies, testing his promise to cure Nezuko and avenge his family. Gorgeous, brutal and unexpectedly tender, Demon Slayer is an accessible entry point to anime and a modern classic in its own right.
