Overview

In the isolated village of Sotoba, people start dying — one after another, with no clear cause. The village doctor, Toshio Ozaki, refuses to accept the deaths as natural, while a teenage boy, Natsuno, notices the newcomers at the eerie Kanemasa mansion and the strange girl, Megumi, who died and yet seems to linger. Shiki is a slow-burn horror masterpiece that asks the hardest question of the genre: when the dead rise and hunger, who is the monster — the vampire, or the humans who hunt them? Across 22 episodes, the show builds from quiet dread to a devastating war between villagers and the Shiki, refusing easy answers and sparing no one. With a huge, unforgettable cast and a finale that still divides fans, Shiki is one of the most unsettling and intelligent horror anime ever made — a story where every death matters and every side has blood on its hands.
