    Ted Lasso poster

    Overview

Ted Lasso is the rare comedy that makes you laugh and then quietly makes you cry. When relentlessly optimistic American football coach Ted Lasso is hired to manage AFC Richmond, a struggling English soccer club, nobody — least of all the team’s cynical players and its scheming owner — expects him to last. Ted knows nothing about soccer, but he knows people: he leads with kindness, curiosity, and an endless supply of folksy wisdom and biscuits, and slowly, stubbornly, he wins over the locker room, the fans, and the town. Beneath the jokes and the mustache, though, is a show of real depth, tackling anxiety, divorce, ambition, and the hard work of being decent. Jason Sudeikis is magnificent in the title role, and the ensemble around him is just as strong. Warm, funny, and genuinely uplifting, Ted Lasso is comfort television at its very best — the kind of show that leaves you believing, just a little more, in people.

    Creator and Main Cast

Ted Lasso was created by Bill Lawrence, Jason Sudeikis, Joe Kelly, and Brendan Hunt for Apple TV. The cast includes Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso (44 episodes), Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton (44 episodes), Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins (44 episodes), Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent (44 episodes), Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard (44 episodes), Juno Temple as Keeley Jones (44 episodes), Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt (35 episodes), Nick Mohammed as Nathan Shelley (35 episodes), and Toheeb Jimoh as Sam Obisanya (35 episodes).

    Seasons Snapshot

Ted Lasso has run for 4 seasons and 44 episodes on Apple TV: Season 1 (10 episodes) premiered on August 14, 2020, followed by Season 2 (12 episodes) in 2021, Season 3 (12 episodes) in 2023, and Season 4 (10 episodes) in 2026, concluding with “Being Alive” on October 6, 2026.

    Why Watch Ted Lasso?

Ted Lasso is the show to reach for when the world feels heavy. It is funny in the way the best comedies are — quotable, warm, and full of characters you genuinely want to spend time with — but it earns its tears honestly, never shying away from the messiness underneath the optimism. AFC Richmond’s locker room becomes a found family, and watching gruff Roy Kent, swaggering Jamie Tartt, and guarded Rebecca Welton soften under Ted’s relentless decency is pure joy. You do not need to know a thing about soccer to love it; you only need to believe that kindness can be a strategy. Believe.

    Invincible poster

    Overview

Mark Grayson is just a normal teenager — until his powers kick in. His father is Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on Earth, and Mark has grown up in that shadow, waiting for his own abilities to arrive. When they finally do, he steps into a world of capes, secret identities, and saving the day. But Invincible is not the sunny superhero story it first appears to be. Beneath the bright animation lies a brutally violent, emotionally heavy saga about family, legacy, and the terrible price of power. The first season turns on a revelation that shatters Mark’s world and forces him to choose between the father he idolized and the people he loves. Later seasons expand the scope to alien empires, alternate dimensions, and wars that span planets, all while keeping the story rooted in Mark’s struggle to be a good person in a universe that keeps testing him. It is funny, shocking, and genuinely moving — superhero storytelling at its most ambitious.

    Creator and Main Cast

Invincible was developed for Prime Video from the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley. The voice cast includes Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson / Invincible (32 episodes), Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson (32 episodes), J.K. Simmons as Nolan Grayson / Omni-Man (32 episodes), Gillian Jacobs as Eve (27 episodes), Walton Goggins as Cecil (26 episodes), Grey DeLisle as Shrinking Rae / Monster Girl (26 episodes), Chris Diamantopoulos as Donald (24 episodes), Ross Marquand as Immortal / Rudy and Rex / Robot (21 episodes), and Jason Mantzoukas as Rex (20 episodes).

    Seasons Snapshot

Invincible has run for 4 seasons and 32 episodes on Prime Video, with 8 episodes in each season. Season 1 premiered on March 25, 2021, and Season 4 concluded with “DON’T LEAVE ME HANGING HERE” on April 22, 2026.

    Why Watch Invincible?

Invincible looks like a Saturday-morning cartoon and hits like a freight train. It earns its shocks honestly: the violence is never just spectacle, because every battle costs Mark something — a friendship, a belief, a piece of himself. The voice cast is superb, with Steven Yeun anchoring the show’s heart and J.K. Simmons delivering a career-best turn as a father who is both loving and terrifying. And just when you think you know where the story is going, it swings into cosmic territory that most live-action superhero shows would never dare to attempt. If you want a superhero series with real stakes, real emotion, and zero fear of going too far, this is the one.

    Space Brothers poster

    Overview

Space Brothers opens with a childhood promise made under a summer sky: brothers Mutta and Hibito Nanba swear that one day they will both become astronauts. Years later, the promise has split in two. Hibito is living the dream as the first Japanese astronaut headed for the Moon, while the older Mutta has just been fired from his job and is drifting through his thirties with no direction left. When Hibito reminds him of the vow they made as boys, Mutta decides to start over and aim for space himself. What follows is a long, warm and often funny journey through JAXA’s brutal astronaut selection exams, where Mutta’s stubborn optimism, quick thinking and refusal to give up on his teammates carry him further than raw talent alone. Spanning nearly a hundred episodes, the series balances the technical detail of space training with small human moments — family, friendship, rivalry and the quiet courage it takes to chase a dream long after everyone else has stopped believing in it.

    Main Cast

    • Hiroaki Hirata as Mutta Nanba
    • KENN as Hibito Nanba
    • Masayuki Katou as Kenji Makabe
    • Miyuki Sawashiro as Serika Itou / Mutta Nanba as a Boy
    • Masako Ikeda as Sharon Kaneko
    • Yuko Sanpei as Hibito Nanba as a Boy
    • Shô Ryûzanji as Tadashi Hoshika
    • Ryou Naitou as Yasushi Furuya
    • Shintaro Asanuma as Yamato Mizoguchi

    Seasons Snapshot

    • Season 1 — 51 episodes, premiered March 31, 2012. Mutta enters JAXA’s astronaut selection and fights his way toward becoming a candidate.
    • Season 2 — 48 episodes, premiered April 6, 2013. Mutta’s training continues while Hibito’s lunar mission takes center stage, ending with the finale “Life Changes, Promises Don’t” on March 22, 2014.

TMDB also lists a 3-episode Specials collection, not counted in the 99-episode total.

    Why Watch Space Brothers?

    • A grounded, grown-up take on the space dream — no superpowers, just exams, training and perseverance.
    • Mutta is one of anime’s most relatable heroes: a thirty-something underdog starting over from scratch.
    • The brotherly bond between Mutta and Hibito anchors every triumph and setback.
    • Real astronaut detail, from JAXA selection tests to life aboard the ISS.
    • Nearly 100 episodes of slow-burn, feel-good storytelling that earns its emotional payoffs.

    Dark poster

    Overview

When a boy vanishes in the small German town of Winden, the search for him cracks open a mystery that stretches across generations — and across time itself. Four families, bound together by secrets, affairs and old grudges, discover that their lives are tangled in ways they never imagined, and that the caves beneath the town’s nuclear power plant hide a passage to the past and the future. Dark is a slow, rain-soaked puzzle of a series: every answer raises a new question, every character turns out to be someone else at another age, and every timeline is connected by a thread you cannot see until it pulls tight. It is the most intricately plotted show Netflix has ever made — a story about free will, fate and the terrible things families do to protect one another — and it rewards viewers who pay attention with one of the most satisfying endings in modern television.

    Creator and Main Cast

Dark was created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese for Netflix. The cast includes Louis Hofmann as Jonas Kahnwald (26 episodes), Lisa Vicari as Martha Nielsen (26 episodes), Andreas Pietschmann as The Stranger (26 episodes), Maja Schöne as Hannah Kahnwald (26 episodes), Stephan Kampwirth as Peter Doppler (26 episodes), Paul Lux as Bartosz Tiedemann (26 episodes), Jördis Triebel as Katharina Nielsen (26 episodes), Karoline Eichhorn as Charlotte Doppler (26 episodes), and Moritz Jahn as Magnus Nielsen (18 episodes).

    Seasons Snapshot

Dark has run for 3 seasons and 26 episodes on Netflix. Season 1 premiered on December 1, 2017, with 10 episodes, Season 2 followed with 8 episodes, and Season 3 concluded the story with 8 episodes, ending with the finale “The Paradise” on June 27, 2020. The final season takes the time-twisting madness to its conclusion in a strange new world, where some things are quite different — and some are exactly the same.

    Why Watch Dark?

Dark is the gold standard of puzzle-box television: a show that trusts its audience, never dumbs anything down, and actually sticks the landing. Its atmosphere — cold, wet, beautifully shot, scored with dread — is unforgettable, and its cast, playing the same characters across multiple timelines, is extraordinary. If you love mysteries that make you think, rewatch episodes just to catch what you missed, and argue about timelines with friends, there is nothing else quite like it. Just keep a family tree handy.

    Gankutsuou poster

    Overview

In a glittering future Paris, where aristocrats travel between the Moon and the Earth and fortunes are made on reputation, a mysterious stranger arrives at a carnival and changes one young man’s life forever. Albert de Morcerf, the naive heir of a powerful family, is dazzled by the enigmatic Count of Monte Cristo — a man of impossible wealth, stranger knowledge and magnetic charm. But the Count has not come to Paris by chance. He is Edmond Dantès, once betrayed by the very men who now rule the city, and his friendship with Albert is the first move in a revenge plotted over years. Told largely through Albert’s eyes, Gankutsuou reimagines Alexandre Dumas’ classic as a baroque science-fiction tragedy, its characters dressed in swirling patterned costumes and its world rendered in a famously bold, textured art style. As the Count’s schemes tighten around Albert’s family and friends, the series asks whether revenge can ever be just — and what it costs the avenger, and the innocent caught beside him, when every debt is finally paid.

    Main Cast

    The main voice cast includes:

    • Jun Fukuyama as Albert de Morcerf (24 episodes)
    • Jouji Nakata as The Count (24 episodes)
    • Daisuke Hirakawa as Franz d’Epinay (24 episodes)
    • Nobuo Tobita as Baptistin
    • Koji Ishii as Giovanni Bertuccio
    • Akiko Yajima as Haydee
    • Mai Nakahara as Peppo

    Seasons Snapshot

    • Season 1 — 24 episodes, premiered October 6, 2004; finale “At the Shore” (1×24) aired March 30, 2005.

The complete story is told in a single season, following Albert from his first meeting with the Count to the final reckoning in Paris.

Why Watch Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo?

    • A bold reimagining of Dumas’ revenge classic, set in a decadent sci-fi future Paris.
    • The Count himself: charming, terrifying and impossible to look away from.
    • Albert’s coming-of-age at the center of the tragedy gives the revenge real emotional stakes.
    • A famously distinctive visual style — patterned costumes and textured worlds unlike any other anime.
    • A complete, self-contained 24-episode story with a proper ending.

    Severance poster

    Overview

Imagine a job so demanding that you agree to have your memories surgically split in two: one version of you lives only at work, the other only outside it, and neither knows what the other does all day. That is the deal at Lumon Industries, a company whose bland hallways and retro-futuristic offices hide something deeply strange. Mark Scout leads a small team of “severed” workers who spend their days sorting numbers into boxes, never knowing why — until a mysterious colleague appears outside work and cracks the door open. As Mark’s two selves begin to pull toward the same truth, Severance becomes a slow-burn mystery about identity, consent and free will, dressed up as the weirdest workplace drama ever filmed. Its sterile corridors, eerie music and deadpan humor make every episode feel like a puzzle box you cannot put down, and its cliffhangers are among the most talked-about in recent television.

    Creator and Main Cast

Severance was created by Dan Erickson for Apple TV. The cast includes Adam Scott as Mark Scout (19 episodes), Britt Lower as Helly Riggs (19 episodes), Tramell Tillman as Seth Milchick (19 episodes), Zach Cherry as Dylan George (19 episodes), Patricia Arquette as Harmony Cobel (19 episodes), Jen Tullock as Devon Scout-Hale (19 episodes), Dichen Lachman as Ms. Casey (19 episodes), John Turturro as Irving Bailiff (19 episodes), and Christopher Walken as Burt Goodman (19 episodes).

    Seasons Snapshot

Severance has run for 2 seasons and 19 episodes on Apple TV. Season 1 premiered on February 17, 2022, with 9 episodes, and Season 2 followed in 2025 with 10 episodes, ending with the finale “Cold Harbor” on March 20, 2025. The second season raises the stakes as Mark and his colleagues learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, pushing both their work selves and their outside selves toward a collision.

    Why Watch Severance?

Severance is that rare show that is both a genuine mystery and a work of art: meticulously designed, brilliantly acted and endlessly debatable. Adam Scott anchors it with a performance that is quietly devastating, and the supporting cast — especially Patricia Arquette, Tramell Tillman and John Turturro — is superb. Every frame feels deliberate, every revelation reframes what came before, and the finale of each season will leave you desperate for more. If you love shows that respect your intelligence and reward close watching, Severance is essential.

    Overview

When the senior members of Tokise High’s koto club graduate, Takezo Kurata is left as its only member, and the club faces being shut down. Salvation arrives in an unlikely form: Chika Kudo, a rough-edged former delinquent with a bad reputation, barges into the club room demanding to join, followed by Satowa Hozuki, a koto prodigy from a prestigious family who plays with breathtaking skill. Around them gathers a small band of misfits, each carrying their own wounds, rivalries and reasons for picking up the thirteen-stringed instrument. Together they rebuild the club from nothing, learning to play as one ensemble and aiming for the national competition. Kono Oto Tomare! is a warm, earnest school drama where music becomes the language its characters use to say what they cannot say aloud — about grief, family pressure, guilt and the slow work of trusting other people. The koto performances are the show’s heartbeat, and every competition piece lands harder because we know exactly what it cost each player to be on that stage.

    Main Cast

    The main voice cast includes:

    • Yuma Uchida as Chika Kudo (26 episodes)
    • Junya Enoki as Takezo Kurata (26 episodes)

Why Watch Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life?

    • The koto performances are genuinely stirring — traditional Japanese music given full dramatic weight.
    • An underdog club story done right: a dying club rebuilt by misfits who have everything to prove.
    • Chika Kudo’s redemption arc, from feared delinquent to the club’s fiercest heart.
    • Satowa Hozuki, a prodigy learning that technique alone is not music.
    • An ensemble where every member’s backstory earns its place on stage.

    Succession poster

    Overview

Logan Roy built Waystar Royco into a media empire, and now his children are circling the throne — each one brilliant, damaged and desperate to be chosen. When the aging patriarch’s health falters, the question of who will succeed him turns a family into a battlefield, fought with boardroom coups, leaked scandals, humiliating public stunts and the occasional helicopter. Kendall wants to prove himself the serious heir, Roman hides his insecurity behind cruelty and jokes, Shiv tries to outmaneuver her brothers with political savvy, and Connor just wants to be loved. Beneath the luxury yachts and private jets, Succession is a story about the oldest question in the world: what happens to children who were raised to inherit everything except their father’s approval? The answer, delivered in some of the sharpest dialogue ever written for television, is by turns hilarious, horrifying and heartbreaking.

    Creator and Main Cast

Succession was created by Jesse Armstrong for HBO. The cast includes Jeremy Strong as Kendall Roy (39 episodes), Kieran Culkin as Roman Roy (39 episodes), Sarah Snook as Siobhan ‘Shiv’ Roy (39 episodes), Brian Cox as Logan Roy (39 episodes), Matthew Macfadyen as Tom Wambsgans (39 episodes), Alan Ruck as Connor Roy (39 episodes), Nicholas Braun as Greg Hirsch (39 episodes), Peter Friedman as Frank Vernon (39 episodes), and J. Smith-Cameron as Gerri Kellman (38 episodes).

    Seasons Snapshot

Succession has run for 4 seasons and 39 episodes on HBO. Season 1 premiered on June 3, 2018, and the series closed with Season 4, which ran for 10 episodes and ended with the finale “With Open Eyes” on May 28, 2023. In the final season, the sale of Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer, forcing the Roy siblings into their last, desperate scramble for power.

    Why Watch Succession?

Succession is the rare drama that is also a comedy of manners — a show where a corporate merger can be as tense as a thriller and a family dinner as brutal as a war. Jesse Armstrong’s writing is surgical: every insult lands, every alliance crumbles, and every character is simultaneously monstrous and pitiable. The performances are career-defining, especially Brian Cox’s terrifying Logan and Jeremy Strong’s unraveling Kendall. If you like your television smart, savage and endlessly quotable, there is nothing else like it.

    Fleabag poster

    Overview

Fleabag is a woman in her thirties holding her life together with jokes, sex and sheer nerve, and losing the fight in the funniest, saddest way imaginable. She runs a struggling guinea-pig-themed café in London, dodges her uptight sister Claire, spars with her godmother, and talks directly to us — breaking the fourth wall with a raised eyebrow whenever the world gets too much. Beneath the punchlines, though, is a story about grief: the loss of her best friend Boo, a family that communicates almost entirely through passive aggression, and a woman who is furious at everyone, herself most of all. Then, in the second series, she meets a priest — played with devastating charm by Andrew Scott — and for the first time, someone sees straight through her. Fleabag is filthy, frank and disarmingly tender, a comedy about a woman learning that being seen might be the scariest thing of all.

    Creator and Main Cast

Fleabag was created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge for BBC Three and BBC One, based on her own one-woman stage play. The cast includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Fleabag (12 episodes), Sian Clifford as Claire (12 episodes), Jenny Rainsford as Boo (9 episodes), Olivia Colman as Godmother (9 episodes), Bill Paterson as Dad (9 episodes), Brett Gelman as Martin (7 episodes), Andrew Scott as The Priest (6 episodes), and Hugh Skinner as Harry (6 episodes).

    Seasons Snapshot

Fleabag has run for 2 seasons and 12 episodes. Series 1 premiered on July 21, 2016, with 6 episodes, and Series 2 followed with 6 episodes, closing with the finale “Episode 6” on April 8, 2019. The second series finds Fleabag a year on from the first, apparently more at ease with herself — until a wedding, a family crisis and a forbidden attraction to a priest unravel her all over again.

    Why Watch Fleabag?

Fleabag is one of the great comedies of its decade because it refuses to choose between laughing and hurting. Waller-Bridge’s direct-to-camera asides make you a co-conspirator, and then the show turns that intimacy against you, revealing the pain behind the jokes. The second series is a masterclass in romantic tension — “It’ll pass” has become one of television’s most quoted lines for a reason. Twelve episodes, no filler, and an ending that knows exactly when to let go.

It is 1955, ten years after the Second World War, and six teenage boys arrive at the Shounan Special Reform School — a juvenile detention center run by the sadistic guard Ishihara and the corrupt doctor Sasaki. Under Anchan’s wing, the boys learn to endure beatings, hunger and humiliation without losing their humanity. When they finally leave the school, their real test begins: keeping the promise they made to each other and chasing their dreams — Mario’s boxing career, Noboru’s education, and a life beyond the bars — in a Japan still scarred by war.
