Overview

Cousins Beach is more than a summer address in The Summer I Turned Pretty: it is the place where Isabel ‘Belly’ Conklin measures her own growing up, year after year, against two brothers who have always been part of her family story. Returning each June, Belly finds that the rituals she loved as a child — long days by the water, late-night talks, and the easy closeness of the Conklin and Fisher families — now carry new weight. A first love, a changing friendship, and the adults’ private worries all press in at once, turning a season that once felt endless into one full of choices she cannot undo. Based on Jenny Han’s novels, the series stays close to Belly’s point of view, letting small moments — a glance, a song, a sudden silence — do as much work as its biggest twists. As Belly moves from sixteen to college and beyond, the show asks what we keep from the summers that shaped us, and what we must finally leave behind.
